Catherine Forter Chee-A-Tow

South Coast, Barbados

Catherine's paintings are festive in the vibrancy of their colors, celebration of a certain Caribbean art de vivre, tropical voluptuousness and languor accentuated by the lively,  always graceful and majestic presence of foliage !   The bright, vivid oranges are a synthesis of colors around us, in the foliage, the flowers and fruits, the highlights of a cheek bone, the rim of a straw hat, a ribbon or simply the rays of the sun. They are also evocative of the bubbly, personalities of my characters rich in Caribbean antics and apparels. Blues are reminiscent of our skies and seas but symbolically also the color of our island serenity.

You take home a piece of Barbados and the Caribbean when you purchase a wonderful piece of art from Catherine Forter Chee-A-Tow.  Her art can be seen by appointment in her Garrison Historic District Studio, at Tapas Restaurant or in several galleries throughout the island.
