Open Houses, presented by the Barbados National Trust as a winter season tradition for over 30 years, are held Wednesdays and some Saturdays from 2:30-5:30pm during the months of January to March. This is your chance to see some of the island's most beautiful homes! Visitors and locals alike can enjoy the architecture and history of privately owned homes. Enjoy a garden party atmosphere, with fresh fruit juices, homemade rum punch and snacks served on the lawns. Books on Barbados and the Caribbean are also available for purchase, and a small selection of artists and craftspeople display their art for sale.
Fustic House is one of the most distinctive and magical of the transformations created on Barbados by the English theatrical designer, Oliver Messel. The new film "A Caribbean Dream", based on Midsummer Night's Dream, was shot here, for good reason. Get a preview today and meet the writer/director! Besides the two-part house, there's a delightful cottage, and the conference/entertainment pavilion. The overall ambience and the little details all merge to create an atmosphere of unparalleled elegance and tranquillity. With 11 acres of park-like grounds, you'll want to walk a lot.
